AARST
is a nonprofit, professional organization of members who are
dedicated to the highest standard of excellence and ethical
performance of radon measurement, radon mitigation and transfer
of radon information for the benefit of members, consumers and
the public at large. Radon Professionals Working Together To
Save Lives.
The
Alpha-1 Association is a member-based not-for-profit
organization dedicated to identifying those affected by Alpha-1
Antitrypsin Deficiency (Alpha-1) and to improve the quality of
their lives through support, education, advocacy and to
encourage participation in research. Alpha-1-Antitrypsin
Deficiency (Alpha-1), a genetic disorder that can cause liver
and lung disease in children and adults.
Alpha
– 1 Foundation is dedicated to providing the leadership and
resources that will result in increased research, improved
health, worldwide detection, and a cure for Alpha-1 deficiency.
The
American Respiratory Alliance of Western Pennsylvania has been
providing services to local communities for more than 100 years.
They originated as a grass roots society to fight tuberculosis
and have evolved to offer programs for adults with chronic lung
diseases, children with asthma and their parents, adults and
adolescents who would like to quit smoking, health professionals
who require the most current information on tuberculosis,
influenza, and other lung diseases, as well as anyone wishing to
learn more about their lungs and how to keep them healthy. They
serve over three million residents of Western Pennsylvania.

The Arkansas Respiratory Health
Association is a volunteer organization with a full time staff
located in Little Rock. They are working to promote lung health
by educating children about the dangers of tobacco, helping
adults quit smoking, and providing a better quality of life for
both children and adults living with lung disease.
As
the local Clean Air and Healthy Lungs leader, Breathe California
fights lung disease in all of its forms and works with its
communities to promote lung health. Five local agencies in the
Bay Area, Central Coast, Golden Gate, Sacramento, and Los
Angeles were founded in the first decades of the 1900s,
beginning in 1903, and their key roles have been to establish
tobacco-free communities, achieve healthy air quality, and fight
lung diseases such as asthma and tuberculosis. Prevention is
their priority. Through education, advocacy, and research they
use a comprehensive approach to promote healthy lifestyles and
reduce the impact of lung disease.

Breathe New Hampshire is
committed to eliminating lung disease and improving the
quality of life for those living with lung disease in New
Hampshire. The organization's mission encompasses the
challenges associated with asthma management; keeping both
indoor and outdoor air clean; nicotine addiction; COPD
(Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease); and other matters
affecting healthy breathing.

Cancer Survivors Against Radon (CanSAR)
educates the public and policy makers on the deadliness of
radon gas, which takes the lives of over 21,000 people each
year due to radon-induced lung cancer, with a goal to inform
society on how to test and prevent this deadly gas from
entering homes.
The
Chicago Thoracic Society (CTS) is a professional organization
dedicated to the promotion of lung disease research,
professional education and clinical practice. The CTS, which
also serves as the medical section of the Respiratory Health
Association of Metropolitan Chicago (RHAMC), is
multidisciplinary and its membership includes physicians,
fellows, students-in-training, researchers, internists, nurses,
respiratory care practitioners, and other allied health care
professionals.
The
Chicago Asthma Consortium is a coalition of medical and
public health professionals, business leaders, government
agencies, community based organizations, and individuals
dedicated to improving the quality of life for people with
asthma through networking, information sharing, and
collaboration.
The
Mission of the Children's Interstitial Lung Disease
Foundation is to provide support, education and hope to
families affected with a pediatric interstitial lung disease
and to advocate and raise funds for scientific research.
The
COPD Foundation sets out to improve the lives of patients
with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disorder (COPD), as well
as the lives of those with a related disease. Through
research and the supply of information, it is hopeful that
public awareness, early diagnosis, and better treatment will
lead to a cure for COPD.
The
Illinois Food Allergy Education Association supports the
Respiratory Health Association in advocating for lung health
research and education. A new study noted that second-hand
smoke exposure to young children increases the incidence of
food allergy by 50 per cent. Moreover, young people who have
food allergies and asthma compose the majority of food
allergy fatalities.

Illinois Student Environmental
Coalition unites student environmental organizations that are
committed to improving environmental practices at colleges and
universities by facilitating the exchange of resources and
ideas.

The mission of Mobile C.A.R.E. Foundation, a
not-for profit healthcare provider, is to provide free and
comprehensive asthma care and health education to children in
Chicago's underserved communities via mobile medical clinics,
the
Asthma Vans. Each of our three Asthma Vans is
staffed with a pediatrician, nurse, and clinical
assistant/driver, who provide on-going care to an established
and evolving roster of patients identified through partnerships
with local public and parochial schools, as well as Head Start
programs. By bringing the doctor to the patient, Mobile C.A.R.E.
is able to have immediate impact in the communities which it
serves. Since beginning operations in 1999, our physicians have
treated over 4,300 patients through more 21,200 patient visits,
resulting in more effective disease management and a better
quality of life for our patients and their families.
The
National Lung Cancer Partnership is the only lung cancer
advocacy organization founded by physicians and scientists
dedicated to increasing lung cancer awareness and research
funding. The National Lung Cancer Partnership’s mission is to
decrease deaths due to lung cancer, and to help patients live
longer and better, through research, awareness and advocacy.

The Nursing Assembly of the
Respiratory Health Association of Metropolitan Chicago is an
organization devoted to the promotion of optimal respiratory
health in the community by advancing the science and
practice of respiratory nursing through professional
development, networking, and advocacy.
The mission of the Respiratory
Health Association is to promote healthy lungs and fight lung
disease through research, advocacy, and education. To that end,
the RHAMC serves an estimated one million Cook County residents
diagnosed with asthma, lung cancer, chronic obstructive
pulmonary disease (COPD), emphysema, and other lung diseases
through community-based interventions.
